In my diocesan cathedral chapel at exactly 3:00 pm today, the Blessed Sacrament was exposed for an hour, the pews were filled w/ hundreds, long lines for confession snaked along the outer walls, & we prayed the divine mercy chaplet. The faith in this diocese is a beautiful gift.

Thank you for this. Our Des Plaines convent is walking distance from this Carmelite home and is the location of our novitiate. Your mom’s community prays for our novices by name, so she prayed for me for two years. And I sometimes dropped off gifts at holidays to her home.

A young woman bought my coffee tonight “b/c her grandmother was a nun”, her name was Abigail & I told her that her name means “Father’s joy,” (she didn’t know) & then she looked at me & said we’d actually met before, that I was in the hospital chapel the day her father died...🙏🏾

A gift of our convent being next to our hospital is that if someone has a loved one here that they’re trying to get to, they can call us to go be w/ them so they’re not alone; a simple, joyful way to serve…I just have to remember to switch from house shoes before walking over 😂

Some of my favorite clients are reluctant teens, put in therapy by their parents & BIG MAD because to top it off it’s with a NUN! 😂 Seeing these young people be willing to go from that to opening up & doing the counseling work (better than most grown folk) gives me so much hope.

Today I helped 2 families from different ethnic, race & socioeconomic backgrounds come together for the good of their kids; in their meeting they realized how stereotypes had misinformed their perspectives of each other. I am eternally grateful to be able to do this ministry.
