I think my favourite result of the night is that Douglas Ross is gone. Even in defeat for himself and his party, his entire interview was about the SNP. Just an awful, awful politician that represents the worst of what politics represents.

Great moment in the game as the Stenny keeper offers the number 11 some advice on peeling off his man so he can receive his goal kick better. Number 11 shouts back “Don’t start with your shite; just kick the fucking ball”

On behalf of the Scottish Research Team, I am deeply saddened by the passing of our friend and colleague Bryan Purdue. Bryan joined the Football Manager Scottish Research Team back in 2001, primarily providing information and analysis for his beloved Greenock Morton. 1/

Hibs - like a few clubs - are doing badly because they have a manager who has been coached to believe the only way to play is like a top European side, but he doesn’t have the players to make that work.

Anyone moaning about Ryan Gauld perhaps showing a lack of ambition signing with Vancouver Whitecaps needs to take a step back and have some perspective. He’s getting paid millions to live and work in a great part of the world. Is it more ambitious for him to live in Norwich?

@PoorlyAgedWho I think you’re totally wrong. It’s such an easy cop out that people give because they want to vouch for quality that isn’t there. Planet of the Ood is written and performed at a standard that surpasses anything from the Chibnall era.

Tom English described Edwards on the radio as (I’m paraphrasing here) “The sort of player who loses track of his man, jogs back into position and when he’s at fault for the goal, immediately throws his hands in the air and blames everyone else for it”. Bang on.

8 games to go and none of them against the top 5 in the league. 1 point off bottom, 6 off safety (with Killie playing 3 of the top 5 before the split). It's in United's hands and if we can't overcome it, we deserve to go down.

@TEnglishSport You're framing United as the guilty party here. "What did United expect?" Presumably not to have to pour money into having to defend a promotion that almost 100% would have happened had the government not stopped the playing of football in the country.

I don't have a problem with Ogren not wanting to put more of his own personal wealth into the club and I do think some supporter attitudes are wrong about that. But he should be asking why his money has been so badly spent by those he trusted with it.

Justifiably angry United fans will look for someone to blame, or key decision points (eg sacking Ross) for how this season transpired. For me, it’s all about recruitment. We chased “marquee” signings ahead of squad balance, and ended up with the team we have.

Not to continue a pile on on Bolton as he’s not the only player we have who is underperforming, but I don’t get why we are persisting in the development of a 21 year old who won’t be with us next year, and leaving guys like Mochrie, Fotheringham and Sporle out. What’s the point?

On the radio they are talking about identity and how Hearts don’t really have it. Two seasons ago United had no identity; just marquee signings and no team. Credit to Jim Goodwin who has identified how he wants United to play and has signed players for that.

The other thing I don't get at the moment is Max Biamou. I honestly don't care if he's not the best in training (as the rumourmill suggests). The guy is a striker who can score goals and is on our payroll. We've scored 4 goals in 15 hours of league football ffs.

Also, let’s not forget that Lewis Neilson, Kieran Freeman and Logan Chalmers have very little first team experience, let alone at the top level, so for them to play as they played vs Celtic is fantastic. And well done to Mellon for playing them all.

It will be costly but we need to sack Fox, Crawford, Hinchcliffe and remove Mulgrew as a coach. All the chat about Asghar; yes he’s got to go, but him alone leaving won’t save our season. New management and coaches first. It’s a last roll of the dice but needs to happen now.

United, Aberdeen and Hibs all suffering from this 'Tactics The Way We Were Taught On The Course' mentality. It works for the European elite ergo it must work for us. There's a reason Arbroath are doing so well and it's because they have a manager with his own style and process.

Tony Watt’s assist for the Moult goal was excellent from a team perspective. He could have taken the shot himself and would likely have scored it but he passed to a team mate who hasn’t been exactly red hot in front of goal to give him an opportunity to get his confidence back.

Like to think I'm fair in criticism of United players, and have always - rightly in my view - slaughtered Jamie Robson at left back. But as a left midfielder he's been surprisingly impressive. He's direct, beats the man and gets the cross in. It's what you need.

Interesting - and in no was unexpected - to see calls for the manager's head, because on paper, this form is sackable. But I'm not seeing where any other manager would turn that injury hit side into a free-scoring one. We've been desperately unlucky with injuries.

For me, Fotheringham stood out a mile. A player who wants to take men on, but not in the eyes to the ground, no plan b style that Cudjoe has. He's a good player. Meekison, Mochrie and Glass are also tidy players but they aren't yet proving effective.
