yeah, lidar definitely increases cost and complicates things (you have to deal with maintenance and sensor fusion) but it is a huge advantage with regard to measuring proximity in 3 dimensions
pretty amazing tesla has gotten this far without it
i never saw too much discourse on openai api switching to require pre-purchased credits. i wonder how much additional cash this gave them to play with.

it’s pretty neat to talk to builders in SF and think to yourself so frequently “that’s a pretty cool idea but seems risky to have no backup plan”
i like Elons analogy of a company being the vector sum of all of the employees. i think it also shows why things like politics need to stay out of the work place (vectors need to align for maximal impact)

what does this say about twitter and linkedin?
i’m sure to some extent it speaks to those on the platform, but could also be a result of twitter showing people things they agree with vs linkedin showing people things they disagree with.
