In the last 4 years Texas Tech, Baylor and TCU have all played for national titles in either football or basketball. Texas hasn’t done that in 13 years. A&M hasn’t in 84 years
Last year the Big 12 title game between Ok State and Baylor outdrew the PAC 12 and ACC title games combined. The AAC title between 2 new Big 12 teams also outdrew the ACC title game
After sweeping Texas in basketball, winning the series in baseball, and beating them in football in 2022. People are asking if Texas is running away from Texas Tech
Chance McMillian is only a Junior
Pop Isaacs is only a Sophomore
Darrion Williams is only a Sophomore
Kerwin Walton has a Covid year
Devan Cambridge has another year
Oh boy
The Pac 12 wanted no part of Tech/Ok St/TCU two years ago.
With USC and UCLA gone, the humbling reality for the remaining 10 is they don't draw notably more eyeballs than the AAC.
A deep-dive on realignment and TV value.
The Big 12 wanted no part of UCF/Cincy/Houston five years ago.
With Texas and OU gone, the humbling reality for the remaining 8 is they don't draw notably more eyeballs than the AAC.
A deep-dive on realignment and TV value.
Missouri hasn’t:
Won a Bowl Game since 2014
Made a Sweet Sixteen since 2009
Made the NCAA Baseball Tournament since 2012
Missouri however is 0-4 in Conference Championship Games
Love the Big 12?
It's a totally random conference with no common culture.
From West Virginia to Central Florida to the Arizona desert, and the Rockies, it's so random.
People love the SEC because it has a common culture, it's the food, it's the Finebaum callers.
Congrats to Hunter Dickinson on Newcomer of the year award for leading Kansas to their worst Big 12 season in over two decades. Also got 30 pieced by fellow Newcomer Darrion Williams
A 16 team basketball tournament in Kansas City with KU, Baylor, Arizona, Houston, Texas Tech, TCU, Iowa State, West Virginia, and K State would be beautiful
Tahj back
We got Conyers
We got Kelly
Micah signed
Behren healthy
Amier Washington breakout
Same for Eakin
Tharp TD
We got another Aussie punter
Kerwin breaking out
Pop got his stroke back
This is Utopia
I love Grant McCasland
But it takes players willing to take whatever they got at half to make this happen
Pop Isaacs
Warren Washington
Joe Toussaint
Darrion Williams
Kerwin Walton
Robert Jennings
Lamar Washington
Chance McMillian
ALL DAWGS
*2021 Texas loses to 2-10 Kansas, goes 5-7 and lands Quinn Ewers*
*2023 Tech loses in Laramie in double OT then loses a tight one to a CFP contender*
Texas fans: “How could a 5 star go to that???”
Iowa State is a legitimate Big 12 contender, their last and next 2 games will all be on ESPN+, they made the sweet 16 last year. They’ll go 17 days without playing on Network TV, and 24 days without playing on ESPN or ESPN 2
After Saturday, Texas Tech’s last three road games are against the last three teams in the Big 12 (UCF, WV, OSU). Tech’s last three home games are also against their three biggest rivals (UT, TCU, Baylor)
That’s about as ideal as a final six games can get
I get Bob Huggins fucked up, and he deserves to be punished. But there’s no way using that word on radio during a singular interview should derail his career. If beating a woman won’t ruin another coaches career
Jimbo Fisher with a spicy comment about TCU here at the
@fortworthaggies
Club: “They stayed healthy, they had a lot of experience and they got to where they had to get to. And then when they got to the SEC, it changed, didn’t it?”
TCU putting up an embarrassing performance just like we should all expect out of a team from this God-forsaken, miserable Big 12 conference against a good SEC team. Texas and OU have some work to do to wash off the Big 12’s stink and build to play against better competition.
Texas Tech is now dancing and will enter the last 2 games of Big 12 play as the 4 seed in KC. Ahead of Kansas and two Elite Eight teams from last season
So long as Kansas doesn’t have a winning conference record in baseball
Texas Tech has a really good chance to finish as the only school with a winning Big 12 record in football, basketball and baseball
Y’all do know we’re about to beat UCF, Kansas, Texas, TCU and Baylor at home. Losing in Ames then taking two of 3 at WV, OSU and UCF right?
Gonna go 12-6 in Big 12 play
Also Toussaint is back and KyeRon could get in this rotation
Win or lose Saturday Texas Tech will enter the bye week…
-without losing to an unranked team
-At least as many ranked wins as Clemson
-More ranked wins than Alabama, Georgia, and Ohio State
-No home losses
-All without their starting QB
-Then four home games after the bye
We’re 1-20 all time at the Phog, so it has been done before. Sure they weren’t top 5, defending national champs, playing to clinch the Big 12, wasn’t their senior night and it wasn’t a must win for us. But it has been done before
Baylor (D1) transfer Dantwan Grimes told
@ThePortalReport
that he would like to stay in the Big 12.
Has heard from schools from all over so far since entering the portal, including a few programs in the Big 12.
Big-name transfer prospect.
Texas Tech announces its Sept. 16 non-conference game against Tarleton State is a sellout. Home games against Sept. 9 against Oregon and Sept. 30 against Houston also are sellouts. Modified capacity at Jones AT&T Stadium this season is 56,200, below the norm of 60,454.
Onto Saturday
-TCU got that home whistle
-TCU shot lights out from 3
-TCU beat you on the boards
-Tech played sloppy
-Tech fought to the end
Tech is still…
-5-2
-A tough team
-4 wins from the Dance
Btw the ideal 14-4 this morning, included a loss here
Back to Cindy at home
With Texas leaving next year, they’ll hand the torch to Oklahoma State for having the best football stadium in the Big 12. At least that’s how I feel about both DKR and BPS in my opinion.
I went to both stadiums this season, and they were both unique in their own way.
UPDATE:
Texas Tech will be the 6 seed with a loss, BYU loss and wins by TCU and KU
Tech will be the 5 seed with a loss and wins by all KU, TCU and BYU
Tech will clinch the 4 seed with a win OR Houston win over KU
Tech will clinch the 3 seed with a win and KU win over Houston
Texas Tech has clinched at least a 7 seed in Kansas City
Tech will clinch a 6 seed if KU, BYU and TCU don’t all win out
Tech will clinch a 4 if KU and BYU each drop one or Tech beats Baylor
Tech will clinch a 3 if they win and one of KU or BYU wins out
Lane Kiffin has more NCAA violations than dog twitter accounts, runs a program known for faking injuries, that took multiple cheap shots on a QB sliding last night. Then wants to make racial abuse accusations against one of our players…okay
