The federal government should also have an interest in effective ways to deter folks to cross the border illegally and support it.

I think the problem is the "one size fits all" attitude to educating kids.
Education has to go beyond this and look toward making sure that each and every child has truly digested the material. A tailored individual approach.
It's more of a "sink or swim" attitude now.

Vetting is needed at the border. You can't just have people pour into the country. We can all agree on that.
Folks should have to apply for entry, should need both a sponsor and a job, for entry.
This is not only fair for the country but also the individual seeking entry.
