There’s a station house at 59th street and by my estimation at least half of the personal cops cars parked there have illegal tint. Seems like enforcement is rather selective.
Excessive tint is a violation of the vehicle traffic law. When officers stop a vehicle with this type of violation, as the video of the incident involving Council member Salaam shows, it creates a safety hazard by obstructing the new inside the vehicle. 1 of 2

This is a citywide issue now. The NYPD simply *does not* tow vehicles with plates that have been abandoned. It is a violation of New York State law for a vehicle to be left unmoved for more than 48 hours, even if it has plates.
