WHAT A NIGHT!!!!
A superb team performance last night saw us victorious in the Norfolk Senior Cup Final. A brilliant occasion at Carrow Road was topped off with a deserved 4-2 victory over Gorleston FC.
We are through to the Semi Finals after a brilliant and disciplined performance against Wroxham. We managed the conditions superbly and came away deserved winners after a late winner.
We are delighted to announce that
@white_danny
has agreed to join the club as Assistant Manager.
Welcome to Downham Town, we look forward to working with you ⚽️
A bit late posting this….but we done it!! A big play off final victory has seen us promoted to Step 5 for the first time in the clubs history! What a day.
All the best for next season to our opponents
@OfficialHarwich
Wednesday evening is our last Home fixture of the season.
We will be running it as ‘Pay what you want’ on entry.
The club have decided that all profits from the gate will be donated to Matthew Blackford
@Matt_Bxx
and Rob Back
@Backie9
Unfortunately during the first half there was a serious injury to Matthew Blackford. Matthew broke his leg in September and after being back for only a month, suffered a double break last night. We are all gutted and will do everything we can to support him with his recovery.
Best of luck to our neighbours
@officialKLtown
today in their National League debut. Massive moment for the club and local area. 3 points to start the season 👍🏼
Delighted to welcome
@eoinmcquaid1
to Downham Town FC. A player we have wanted for a while, with experience at this level and above. Classy operator who we look forward to working with.
Some sad news coming out of the club, as unfortunately our Captain Jon Sykes suffered a clean break of the Tibia in today’s match against
@HB_FC
. He will have an operation tomorrow and we wish him a speedy recovery. ❤️
*Managerial Announcement* - After taking temporary charge in November, the club would like to announce that Craig Dickson and Dale Stokes have been confirmed as joint managers on a permanent basis. 1/2
Great first half and despite being the better side, we went in 1-1. Hosts came out stronger but we went 2-1 ahead against play with a brilliant finish. Last 20 minutes came under a lot of pressure after a sending off, but held firm to take 3 points.
Goals: Watts-Sturrock, Moore
Superb display as we complete the league double over visitors Lakenheath. 0-0 at HT and on top but without taking chances. A dominant second half saw us run away with the game and come away with the 3 points. A goal by debutant Fletcher Toll completed the scoring.
Game of two halves from us today. Lacklustre and sloppy opening 45 going into half time 2-1 down. 2nd half a brilliant performance to turn it around and come away with 3 points.
Haven’t managed to check the VEO footage yet, but here’s a video we’ve been sent of our
#1
@DuncanMcAnally
with the penalty save. Massive moment with around 5 minutes of normal time to play.
Superb victory on the road. Slow start but grew into the game as we went in 2-1 up at half time. Some nice football lead to more chances in the 2nd period and we killed the game off to take a deserved 3 points.
Back where it started in adult football….welcome once again to
@mg_castellan
.
Matt has plenty of experience at higher levels and is a superb signing for the club.
A hard fought but deserved victory this evening. After coming close a few times in the first period, it took a brilliant solo goal by McQuaid to separate the sides and take a well earned maximum points.
This Saturday sees a huge game at The Memorial Field!
Downham Town v
@NorwichCBSFC
in the
@ThurlowNunnL
play off Semi Final.
Come and show us your support as we look to progress to next weekends final and a place at Step 5 for the first time in the clubs history!
Kick off 3pm
Classic game of two halves. A pretty dominant opening 45, going in at 1-0 up. Second period
@NorwichCBSFC
came out a different side and caused a lot of problems. Massive penalty save from
@DuncanMcAnally
with 5 minutes left kept the scores the same. Goal from
@Jackson11xx
Disappointed is an understatement. Whilst appreciating what’s going on in the world, we are absolutely gutted for all our boys who deserved so much more than a void season. To be in with a shout of our first go at Step 5, we can’t thank them enough for their efforts this season.
Next up....
We welcome Jack Rawson back to the club. Jack joins from neighbours
@MarchTownFC
where he has been a consistent performer over the last 3 seasons.
We look forward to seeing you back in a Downham shirt
@jackrawson14
It’s been a history making year for the football club. Since forming in 1881 we have played our first ever FA Cup fixture. As well as gaining promotion to Step 5 for the first time.
We started 2023 8th in TN Div 1 and finish it 7th in TN Prem.
Thank you to all involved!
We would like to welcome Lewis Tighe and Tom Peel to the club, who will be taking charge of our Reserve side. They will be working closely with the First team managers as we look to bring the squads closer together and build on the success of last season.
A great win under difficult circumstances last night. Can’t praise the players enough for coming back out and putting on a professional 2nd half performance to get the job done. Credit to Watton who are a decent side and put us under some real pressure first half.
Prudence opened the scoring in the first half, after good build up play down the right. A slow start to the second half saw us come under a bit of pressure, before Smalls made it 2-0 from the spot against the run of play and sealed what was overall a deserved victory.
Apologies for lack of updates. But after going 1-0 down with 12 minutes to go, we kept battling and goals from Reed and Watts-Sturrock gave us a 2-1 win.
Great win on the road again, as we come away 3-0 winners. Moore and Visocanskis put us 2 up before the break, with Miller then heading in a third in the last minute of added time. A deserved 3 points.
It’s been a pretty busy summer at the Club with several regulars departing. But we have been working hard to bring in new faces for the season.
First up, we welcome
@georgedhutton5
..... he finally arrives after 2 years of trying.
Great to see 1st team Captain Jon Sykes back in action last night. 5 months after his leg break he had a 20min run out and got himself on the score sheet. What a man.
Brilliant win away at St Neots. A real game of two halves where we were the better side in the opening 45 and a great goal from Sivakumar saw us lead at HT. 2nd period we came under a lot of pressure but defended superbly to see us into the next round.
A pulsating encounter sees us come away victorious and into the final. End to end action until the last minute with McAnally saving a 90th minute penalty to send us through.

We are delighted to announce that
@Jack_Frohawk
has joined us at The Memorial. Jack will go straight into the squad for tomorrow’s game. Welcome to the club ⚽️⚽️⚽️
Full Time and a 2-0 victory against
@WisbechStMaryFC
. Scrappy game at times and frustration creeping in with the hosts sitting in and playing on the counter. But an important 3 points.
@WattsSturrock
and
@ICBloodworth
with the goals.
Really pleased to welcome the very talented Magic Smalls to the club. Magic has impressed throughout pre season and is another talented 16yr old that we have added to the squad.
One that we have tried in the past….several times. Pleased to say the persistence has finally paid off. A great addition to the club both on and off the pitch
Welcome
@AlexJWalpole
Pitch looking well ahead of our last league fixture of the season tomorrow as we host
@FC_ParsonDrove
Hopefully a positive result to see us into next weekends play offs Semi Final
Last up we are delighted to welcome Danny Beaumont to Downham Town. A great player that has always impressed when up against us and no doubting the quality he will add.

Brave choice with the away kit this time around….
Thank you as well to
@3QSports
for supplying us once more.
A well worked opening goal against the run of play saw us take the lead. From there we took control playing some nice football and were worthy winners, missing several other chances.
Great victory tonight as we come away 4-1 winners. A poor first half performance despite some good chances. A very dominant opening 20 mins of the 2nd half should have made the game comfortable but the home side got themselves back in the game and caused a lot of problems.
Full time 4-1.
Superb away result against a team unbeaten in 11. Could have been out of sight at half time with some great chances created. Hosts pulled one back in the 2nd half but an immediate response saw us make it 3-1. A 4th came soon after.
Goals from
@Jackson11xx

A game of few clear cut chances and a battle throughout. Second half we were under the cosh for large periods, but defended the box well to hang on for the 3 points.
Comfortable 5-1 victory in todays FA Vase fixture. A quick start saw us 3-0 ahead inside 20 minutes with a few other chances going to waste. A below par 50 minutes then followed as the quality dropped somewhat, before a strong final 10 saw us run away with the game.
A couple of great finishes from McQuaid in the opening 45 saw us 2 up at half time. The hosts pulled one back with 15 to go, as it turned into a nail biting finish. We defended well and held on to take all 3 points
A minutes silence was held last night to pay our respects to club stalwart Paul Carrington, who sadly passed away on Monday. Paul was involved in the club for many many years and will be greatly missed by everyone at Downham Town. Our thoughts go out to family and friends ❤️

@lukereed98
Solid Home performance in a game we controlled throughout. We had chances to make it more comfortable but a well deserved 3 points and a debut goal for young forward Murkin.
A couple more additions to add today….
First of all, we welcome Nick Castellan to the club. Nick has plenty of experience at this level and is a very tidy technical midfielder.
