Just fired a 17-yr-old piano student. She never practiced, said she hated the piano, and told me to "shut up" when I tried to talk to her about it.
Her mom was shocked when I told her my time is valuable & I don't do "shut up" from kids who don't practice.

This is why I love Horowitz. Since 2020, he has been on this stuff, and he rarely gets sidetracked. His is one of my top three podcasts. He steps over the steaming piles of daily distractions and keeps the focus on things like this - things that actually have destroyed lives.

One of our local charity drop offs had nothing set aside for people like our homeless veterans. Everything was earmarked for what they called "noncitizens in crisis".

I seem to have annoyed people with my take on the confederate flag. A society that burns, tears down, or outright bans objects like flags, statues, books... is a society that doesn't respect or properly teach history. A flag doesn't hurt you. Not understanding its origins does.

I just "canceled" one of my piano students for his anti-white opinions, and I did it in front of his parents (Asian & black). No big scene, just dropping him as my student & saying why.
