Mr. Taylor was a great mentor of mine. Most of my fondest memories of Marquette High involved him.

The Marquette High Family lost an amazing person yesterday. Prefect of Discipline and Coach Al Taylor went home to the Lord. Al was the definition of “Man for Others.” He loved his players and the students he worked with each day as sons! RIP Coach Taylor. We will miss you!

This was actually discussed at the Final Four - the majority of the transfers that don’t find a place:
1) kids who enter who “aren’t eligible”
2) D2 players who are on the bottom
3) of the 40+% - as you mentioned, it doesn’t account for non-NCAA transfers

I think the question is - are we talking about a core non-negotiable or an effort/mental mistake? Nobody is trying to miss a shot or turn the ball over. But if your style is say 3-5 crash opposite on the oboards, and someone doesn't go - that is a different story.

One of the wildest games I’ve ever watched. People forget how good Channing Frye was for Arizona. Had 24 on 11-14.
Arizona was up 12 at the under 4 media timeout and had all of the momentum. Simply wow.
Illinois vs Arizona was a Classic 💯
The Fighting Illini spearheaded by Deron Williams & Luther Head led Illinois all the way to the title game & went 15-1 in Big ten play!

I think Shaq and Kobe met about 2003 and I think Kobe probably was the best player from about 2003-10 or so - you could make the argument maybe Duncan for maybe a year.

Any organized competition, scholastic or not while enrolled other than the prep year will trigger a season of competition.

It isn't about evaluation - its about recruitment.
We have limited time and resources. We know who we can and can't get in a given situation.
Think of it like a poker hand. It isn't about if you like your hand. It is about if you can win the hand.

The vast majority of D1 transfers find a place - even if it’s a D1 walkon becoming a D2 scholarship player
However, returning would be accounted for because they would show up as “withdrawn” on the portal. The number refers to “active” status.

My rationale is the 3 extra defensive rebounds are controlled so let’s assume you’re about 5 % better in defensive rebounding and the 4 assists are producing individually no fewer than 8 team points so while we don’t know the defensive liability per se, we can assume we start +14

Post your eligibility center ID number, not your GPA. GPA doesn’t mean a lot until you look at NCAA core. Have your latest transcript in your EC profile with the corresponding number. That will help way more while maintaining your privacy.

Also - while it’s a negligible number, any student who wants to try to play sports at another school has to go in the portal, whether or not they participated at their previous school, so if they never formally withdraw, they have active status as well.

Biggest reason is defense (and rebounding in the case of 3-5) will get you on the court to contribute early and often. Only one guy can shoot the ball at a time, and frankly, the early balls are going to go more established players.

Every dollar or minute I spend on a player I can’t or am less likely to get is a dollar or minute I’m not spending on a player who will help me some day. Coming in 2nd on a kid can cripple your recruiting financially, even when you’re in LM/MM D1. Budgets & recruiting days

In my opinion, that’s why it’s an important question to ask. It isn’t about evaluation, it’s about recruitment odd for success.
If you have limited resources, and there are two similar players - you have to put your time and money on the highest odds for success.

Coming guys - this makes too much sense for tv. The “maybe not the most ideal but the best player took potentially the best shot he might get in the flow of the game but just missed” doesn’t get SAS, PatBev, & Skip making irrational points for 3 hours. We need a false dichotomy

To your point coach - I think even at the highest there are certain schools that when they get involved - it changed the game. Now who that is at the respective level changes - but we all know when it’s unlikely you can beat a certain school if they want that player.

That was 36 year old Brett Favre on a bad Packers Team. Favre always was int prone, but lets not compare that season.
He did however throw more than 20 interceptions 4 times from 94-04.
Winston's year being used was his age 25 year. Favre was good that year and was MVP next.

The Packers from the end of Lombardi until Favre was the worst run of the franchises history. They weren’t any good. I loved part of it.
I do agree with you on the cultural aspect. I think that’s an outstanding point - rightfully or wrongfully, it sucks.

See Cleveland before LeBron or Year 1 in Boston.
Kyrie and Klay as a 2nd option have both won titles.
This is not an indictment on Kyrie’s talent. Kyrie gets in his own way.

I think the 2nd question is - when they come out, are they being left out, or are they getting a break and coming back in? Most coaches aren't benching key players for a single error. Sometimes they need a break or need to refocus. A drink, breather, and a media TO can help.

Not at all. They need to check your resume! I think some are arguing for its own sake. Most just don't differentiate between one mistake vs a series and a mental/effort mistake vs something they have to do every time.
