Holy shit. Not only did she land it, she absolutely exploded into the air and had extra power in the landing. Amazing.

SIMONE HAS DONE IT‼️ Simone Biles is the first female gymnast to perform the Yurchenko double pike on vault internationally and the skill is now officially called the "Biles II". #Antwerp2023

Gonna be so pleased when the tire pile we've been collecting from around the property is finally removed. There was just so much garbage everywhere. Large debris is almost all dealt with, but we'll be picking up the little stuff for a long time.

I love Chip drop! 1st order of business is to finish clearing the blackberries that are resprouting, then lay a mulch protection layer around this glorious Bigleaf Maple & put fencing around it to keep heavy vehicles/equipment off the roots. Mulch, mulch, mulch!

it may be cold and rainy, but I'm very excited about my trek to the areas largest native plant nursery to pick up a client order today 😍 I've bought from them before at events, but never been to their site since it's just a bit far away.

Small planted berms or barriers at the bottom of the slopes might also help, but the site was definitely originally designed to channel water away from the house, into the driveway, & out to the street drains.

Decompaction & rehydration is gonna be key even in a dryland planting scheme. Region gets plenty of cool season rainfall, I just need to keep it on the landscape long enough to soak in. Mulch, mulch, mulch!!!

New client project is gonna require some major brainstorming! Super compacted, rocky, dessicated dirt under scorched lawn on 1 side. Compacted, dry dirt under shade of 30-40yr old evergreens on the other side. Weird slopes throughout.

The floor routine that secured @Simone_Biles' 8th national all-around title, a feat that no American gymnast in history has done before. #XfinityChamps

A minimal budget project; lots of small starts of species with rapid growth by seed, bunching, and/or rhizome. 5x60ft strip should fill in beautifully within a few years. Clients like garden DIY so they can also make divisions to speed up the process w/o breaking the bank.

So excited! 1st planting for 1st client is happening this weekend!!! It's a tricky strip next to a road that gets de-icing in the winter, so I went with a coastal/prairie grass vibe. Mostly a mix of tough PNW native & North American species with a few reliable ornamentals.

Next, policies need to snap into place to protect financial obligations & jobs. At least freeze them in status quo for duration of evacuations. Ethical return/rebuild or even permanent migration support is final step. The more considered, large-scale pre planning, the better.

Public help for individual emergencies is good policy, but perhaps not strictly necessary. Public planning for public emergencies is critical. Bare minimum is plans to temporarily receive, house, feed, & provide sanitation. Set up communication & something for people to do.

Think emergency response planning for internally displaced persons is only necessary for war refugees that are presumably in far away countries? Think again. Where would you go, how would you get there, what do you have time to take, what are your resources?

Silver lining is the end goal of creating FAR more suitable living space for the bats and being conservation minded with the clean up & renovation plan. A Bat & Breakfast where the family and guests can live in harmony with nature. But they definitely need help NOW.

Friends' unexpected bat infestation made their house unihabitable w/o extensive repair & remediation. It exposed them & infant to a very arduous & expensive medical follow up. Help them out if you can or share their story!

Pop pop pop! Did up the first batch of pickles for the year. Most of my dill pickles range from mild to medium levels of heat from the chilies I grow, but the 4 small ones are a special ultra-hot batch with scotch bonnets for a spice loving friend.

The 1st office building I worked on had a budget of $300 million. I heard recently it sold on auction for $500 million b/c there weren't enough tenants. The plan was for a $1 billion development. Sure, it's "undervalued" but ya' know, I THINK the banks will be FINE πŸ™„πŸ™„πŸ™„
