If you only tested once, as soon as you got symptoms, thats not reliable. It often takes 5 or 6 days for an LFT to be +ve, can be up to 8, even 10. Also, try swabbing cheek, tonsils & deep nostrils even if test says front of nose. Even then, could be false -ve but less likely.

There are a lot of reasons why the UK is an unsafe place to be if you are poor or unwell. Many of them would take time, money, and / or a lot of work to fix. An easy one - bring back masking for everyone in all Healthcare facilities, and make it FFP2 & 3 for hospital staff.

Surgical masks are in fact designed so that they can be worn safely by Health Care Workers for a whole 12 hour shift.
However, what you are looking at, is not a surgical mask. Its a particulate-filtering facepiece respirator.

Perhaps you haven't been following Dr Gurdasani - multilayered mitigations. Only one the UK government did well was vaccines, until they failed to vac children over 2021 summer holiday & removed multiple protective policies in English Schools ➡️surge in kids ➡️ parents, staff.

I did a course on Oncology massage last year & trainer casually mentioned mask wearing wasn't necessary. Shocked & disappointed. No explanation. Guess? Was emphasis on how distressing many people find the clinical aspect of their treatment, & how they long for a bit of normality

With the original strain, about 1/3 of infections were asymptomatic. Most people don't know of all the symptoms. Few people test twice weekly or more now. Most never test. Some test once or twice if they think they may have it, not daily for a week.

Yes, and I am a massage therapist, I see this happening with my clients too. I don't want to see them when they have these symptoms, coughing, etc, so I don't see them for weeks.

Yes, that would still be wierd if it happened after the pandemic is over. Terrible thing to do while that pandemic is still with us, still killing people, and causing various long term health problems (Long Covid) after around 1 in 10 infections, affecting millions globally.

Nah, the party will want a new leader in place in the run up to the next GE. Not too soon, so they can blame Johnson for everything & pitch the new person as an exciting fresh start (trustworthy etc). Soon enough to do a promo campaign on them & why they are better than Starmer.
