From day one, the message of

- Saban gave up.
- Disney imposed a shelf date.
- Saban (again) tried to force ⚡️back in the bottle.
- Hasbro backburner'd it until the flame went out.

One of the smartest things a Power Rangers season can do is to intro a character at least a few episodes before they gain their powers. No sure why they don't do it more often. The connection for the viewer is already established which makes them getting powers that much sweeter.

What made Power Rangers a phenomenon wasn't just the Japanese footage. Due to age and the lack of internet in 1993, most didn't know the action was from a different show. We came for the action but stayed for the characters who made the show uniquely Power Rangers.

Can we talk about Barbara Goodson? 30 years later and she did some of her best VO work ever - which is saying A LOT by her standards - as Robo Rita. This was Rita at her absolute cruelest and Barbara commanded every scene.

The first time I watched Super Sentai, I laughed. The blue ranger used a megaphone to make a monster spin around in the air. It was funny. Then I saw the same scene again a year later in Power Rangers. It was also funny. 🤷♂️

Being a kid in the '90s was wild. The internet was sparse. Searching wasn't easy and sites took time to load. Older kids told you that Power Rangers was "just a Voltron rip-off" and you believed them because you had no way of knowing otherwise. (1/4)

Dino Thunder resonated with me because it felt like MMPR if it had started in 2004. The jock and nerd weren't automatically friends. They relied on a smart, confident woman for tech instead of wizards and robots. It wasn't perfect but it was MMPR with layers.
