The bodhisattva should win over beings through the four means of conversion -- gifts, kind words, helpfulness, and consistency between words and deeds.
There are buddha-fields that teach with words, definitions and examples ― and there are utterly pure buddha-fields that teach without speech, by silence, inexpressibility and unteachability.
