It is great to be a part of this history and maintain our commitment to the 1971 agreement. There are 7 UK personnel 3 RN, 2 Army and 2 Civil Service maintaining the UK presence.

in 1968 HMNB Singapore was handed over to the Singapore Government. The RN Barracks HMS TERROR remained until the British withdrew in 1971. The RN still maintains a presence in the Sembawang Yard to this day. In its day it boasted the largest dry dock in the world.

Great work by the team in the marpol exercise today, completely booming an entire 200m vessel. The demonstrated our safety and pollution control capability. Not an easy manoeuvre, requiring a lot of workboat and shire side communication.

On this day of Remembrance, pause to reflect on the sacrifices made from Sinagpore in WWII. Force Z (HMS PoW and Repulse) sailed from Sembawang in early Dec to their destruction by the Japanese forces at a loss of 840 personnel.

There is a memorial within Sembawang Naval Installation to commemorate these vessels, which BDSSU maintain. In Mar 18 we were fortunate enough to host the son of 1 of the original HMS Prince of Wales crew members; who laid a fitting tribute to those lost at sea.
