Regardless of intelligence, I still hold that bipedal dinosaur tool use would be a lot higher than we've learned to expect from animals with reptile-like brains. That sheer amount of animals with their hands free in an ecosystem isn't something we have an intuitive framework for.

I feel like the Whole Language Instruction maybe singlehandedly debunked the "written English is more logographic than alphabetic at this point" (which I believed.) Like we actually ran a nationwide experiment trying to teach English like it's Chinese and got illiterate youths.
The literacy crisis happened because entire generation of teachers were sold a bill of goods by Lucy Calkins and Columbia. The TLDR of it is we stopped teaching phonics and started imagining kids could just intuit how to read on their own by doing it without supports
